Carving with Kev

Sgraffito  is a technique where potters can put a layer of glaze or slip on a  piece of pottery, let it dry, then use a pottery carving tool to scratch  at it to show the base layer of color.

In our  sgraffito class, participants receive a hand-thrown planter, still soft  in the greenware stage of drying and coated in black underglaze. They  can then carve and scratch away at their pots using various different  tools while enjoying some snacks. Everyone also gets a small square of  clay to practice on.

The class is 2hrs in length with a brief instructions in the beginning. Intended for ages 13+
